The Benefits of Exercise

"If exercise could be purchased in a pill, it would be the single most widely prescribed and beneficial medicine in the nation." - Robert H. Butler

As we enter spring, many will dust off those New Year's Resolutions to become more fit or get in shape. Exercise offers many benefits that include not only the physical, but can include emotional well-being as well as improved mental health.

Relax, Man!
Just one session of exercise can generate a 90 to 120 minute relaxation response. Many of us know this as the "endorphin response". By exercising in the morning we are better able to deal with the everyday stressors of life, such as sitting in congested traffic or spending the day managing our households.

You'll Eat Better
Exercise is like a natural appetite suppressant. Those who exercise tend to consume fewer calories, and also make better choices of what they eat. Researchers believe this is because exercise reduces stress, which may make it easier to say no to that doughnut!

Other Benefits of Exercise:
  • It can help combat chronic disease
  • Increases HDL cholesterol
  • Enhances quality of sleep
  • Increases mental focus
  • Improves circulation and endurance
  • Jump-starts the immune system
  • Improves the skin
Given the many benefits of exercise, it just makes sense to get out and get moving! Operation Bootcamp will provide the "kick in the pants" you need to make the most of your workout. Come join us!
