Monday: For me the last Monday of camp is both a happy and sad day. It's almost like high school graduation week. You're happy the group of people you've been working out with all month are going to make it to the end. However, just like school for various reasons it will be the last time you're going to be seeing some of these people that have become your friend. We got a lot of encouragement from the instructors today both before, during, and after the workout about continuing to work hard and preparing ourselves for the upcoming PT test.
Tuesday: Today was the long run around the lake. For those of us that have done the run before we look forward to it, but for those that have not it can be a little intimidating. I still remember my 1st one; showing up that morning and seeing the headlamps and running vests some of the instructors had on, a pretty scary sight! During the run I remember asking the instructors several times, "are we at the half way point yet?". I heard the same question from several of the campers today. However, as soon as I had finished the run I really felt like I had accomplished something that I never thought was possible. I'm sure many of the other campers felt the same way.
Wednesday: Band exercises today. We don't do this one often and I don't know if it's because of this, but I know I'm going to be sore afterwards. I'll make sure to ice my legs to deal with this.
Thursday: Trick or treat day! Usually it's not until we start the workout that I find something to laugh about, but not today. As soon as I saw David with his pants on the ground the fun had started. A great workout followed with us being split up into groups where we would do specific exercises at a station and then run through a ladder and up the hill before returning to the station for another round of exercises.
Friday: Wow, what a way to finish up this month's camp with the PT test. After our usual warm up we all did the mile run. The mile run is the one event that causes the most anxiety for me and I suspect some of the other campers too. I think it's because mentally you know beforehand that it is going to hurt if you intend to do your best. However, I tell myself that at the end of the run the reward will be worth it. The other 3 parts of the PT test followed. I heard some amazing numbers being called out during the tests and I know many campers and instructors were setting personal best numbers.
Great October 2010 Camp! Looking forward to picking up where I left off on Monday. I'm hoping that many of the campers from this month will be returning on Monday too.
