I took my 13.1 half marathon ribbon to work on Monday and made sure to not only show the people that had positive comments for me, but more importantly to the few that expressed doubts in my ability to complete the race. Since my previous running experience consisted of a 5k race a few months ago and the running I did as part of Uncle Sam's bootcamp in 1972 I can understand why some of them may have had these negative thoughts, naysayers. What they didn't know about were the daily OBC workouts, the additional run training we were doing as a group, and the encouragement everyone had been giving and receiving leading up to the race.
Completing the race is just one of the many positive things that have occurred for me since I've started attending OBC. I'm now starting my 6th month of camp and even though I still have a few aches from the race and a few new ones from the daily OBC workouts I have no intention of stopping now.
Trust me setting OBC goals and putting in the maximum effort to complete them works!
