Monday: First day of a new camp. For me this is camp #6. After running a half marathon less than 24 hours earlier I was pretty sore getting out of the car. First decision of the day, should I do the PT test or veteran's workout? I chose the latter. Kevin led us through a pretty challenging workout that consisted of lots of cardio and strength exercises and of course, running.
Tuesday: Another cold day, but I tell myself I'll be warm soon enough. What amazes me is that already the instructors seem to know all the new campers names.
Wednesday: Although we didn't meet at the park I had homework to do. David had sent a couple of emails with links to videos showing the correct form for some of the exercises so you get the most out of them. I took the opportunity to watch and practice them. My wife also watched and gave me some feedback as I practiced. I learned a lot from them and based on some soreness I had the next day they did some good.
Thursday: The band exercises in conjunction with the running were great. Even though I've used the bands several times before in OBC there were some new exercises introduced today. That is what makes it so interesting.
Friday: Seems like more times than not Friday workouts are designed to concentrate on the abs. Since increasing the # of sit-ups I can do in the PT test is one of my goals this was good timing. It also gave me another opportunity to practice some more on the exercise forms.
Saturday: No official OBC workout, but I like to think of it as our unofficial OBC run day. On a fairly regular basis a group of us, mostly made up of boot campers and instructors, get together for a pre-determined distance run. The route is planned in advance by one of the instructors, usually Josh, Scott, or Leo. There is plenty of encouragement given by all throughout the run. I can't remember why I started running with the group, but now I'm really glad I did. By the way, the motto of our group is no one is left behind during the run regardless of their ability.
